Civil Disobedience

 Civil Disobedience

In Thoreau's essay many moral meanings is exposed .Exposing those moral images  shows the importance of those moral needs in disobeying the government, for if there is no morals there would never be disobedience and the government would always use its extremes in treating people as slaves and making them all work as machines. Thoreau assured that  one should  fight for what they believe is injustice ;the morals present in each person's belief are the main control of fighting injustice .Conscience is one of the most important morals presented in Thoreau's essay. One's conscience is the driving force of someone to fight to change something in order to create great justice.
Furthermore Henry David Thoreau's main believe is that even if the civil disobedience is only acclaimed from a minority ,then this minority is morally powerful than majority because the minority has conscience while the majority lack it. The majority may be physically stronger  but they are just like machines ,they lack thinking and they lack the most important moral, which is the conscience.Thoreau was imprisoned as he disobeyed  the government and did not pay taxes for six years ,but he never felt he was on the wrong side,he believed in his conscience and it's importance  and as a result of believing in the most important moral, conscience,he was able to believe that he's stronger than those who imprisoned him. He said that those who imprisoned me imprisoned my body but not my thoughts, morals ,or conscience. This is how Thoreau presented the need of morals for civil disobedience. To Thoreau, when the government is unjust and against our conscience this is when civil disobedience should be carried. To justify his claim Thoreau started his essay mentioning the Mexican war, war that extended slavery. Thoreau argued that not all civil laws are just, and that humans have an obligation to obey a higher law, which is their sense of morality. If obeying the conscience necessitates violating the law, then so it should be. Thoreau advocated that others who disapprove of the war follow his lead and refuse to pay their taxes as a gesture of protest. As for him he used this way of rebelling which is not paying the the poll taxes. He also said that not interfering in the government's army is another way of rebelling.

Conclusively , rebelling and  civil disobedience have ethics not to be acclaimed with bombs, shooting ,and violence. Moreover not all laws are unjust some should be followed.Conscience is the main power of all civil movements ,for it is the most important moral that should be always present everywhere and at anytime.
